I have been fortunate to have always had animals in my life. From the day I came home from the hospital I was greeted with my first dog, Susie. As the years have passed there have been a few dogs come and go in my life and each one holds a special place in my heart.

This location has much to offer; first and most important to this writer: "P.A.W" This stands for Pets are Welcome, and they truly are! There is a $25.00 pet fee per fuzzy friend, but available amenities include litter boxes, litter and scoop, turn-down treats, food and water bowls, custom pet beds, dog minding (yippee!!). There is a one time deposit, unfortunately nonrefundable, of $100.00, but if you are planning a weekend it still compares with a boarding fee, and you have your pets with you.

Once you have a few clients, you'll want to make sure you keep them happy - which means keeping their dogs happy. Take them for walks several times and a day and be sure you're following any dietary restrictions the dogs might have. You can even offer dog training services for an additional fee.

The only advertising that I have done and do is leaving pet sitting postcards at vet offices for their clients, posting my business information online on various free listings, Facebook, Twitter and of course, networking. Most of my business has come from networking, referrals, Facebook and Twitter. I work within my inner circle that branches out to others. It's the only way to go for my business! That was one of my major trial and errors the first year.

People often need some therapy to recover, which can prove boring and repetitive. A therapy dog can provide some excitement in their daily routine that will improve their situation. It's been known to make people less lonely or depressed as well. It can distract them from darker thoughts that they might have.

For one thing, pay attention to when the dog bites. Owners sometimes provoke a fear reaction in dogs without knowing it. http://funnies.hugpets.com/standard-poodle-happiness-demonstration/ - Discover More, Standing over a dog when you greet him, then waiting for him to roll over, and then scratching his belly, for example, may seem like bonding behavior, but it's also creating a very submissive dog. This can also be a fearful dog, who snaps when frightened. Tying a dog with a chain or rope all day can also encourage aggressive behavior. If possible, change the place you keep the dog to a fenced in area.
